Iām aĀ Brisbane-basedĀ qualified and registered counsellor with a diverse range of life and work experience.
I enjoy authentic conversations where clients can experience saying what they need to without fear of judgement, leaving them with a sense ofĀ being genuinely seen and heard.
I aim to make an intrinsic difference to peopleās lives, through my therapeutic presence and the way I work with them. This desire to authentically connect with others motivated me to change careers and formalise my interest in helping people, through studying a Master of Counselling.
I am a PACFA Registered Clinical Counsellor (25312) with a Master of Counselling and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. I bring a unique mix of life experience, therapeutic training, and insight. When you see me, Iām working with you in an integrative manner, tailoring what you need with different aspects of my training, life experience and possibly even referral pathways to other health professionals or services so that you have a wrap-around approach. Itās not like āThis is what I do: letās hope thatās right for you!ā
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in business and leadership roles. This gives me a special interest in helping people through career transitions, workplace stress, and life direction. I also work in the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) space and understand the nuances of work-related wellness.
My counselling style is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including:
Quam senectus potenti curae tincidunt praesent malesuada amet est ridiculus laoreet consectetur
Quam senectus potenti curae tincidunt praesent malesuada amet est ridiculus laoreet consectetur
Quam senectus potenti curae tincidunt praesent malesuada amet est ridiculus laoreet consectetur
As aĀ counsellor who is also a Christian, I can work at a deep level with Christian clients, however, I never introduce spiritual themes and am non-evangelical.
I amĀ open-minded, inclusive and non-judgmentalĀ with a curious stance when exploring with clients their experience of gender, sexuality, religion, culture, socio-economic factors and family dynamics.
Iām not easily offended, rarely shocked and secular in my approach, unless specifically asked to incorporate spirituality.
I offerĀ individual therapy,Ā couples therapy,Ā family therapyĀ and online counselling toĀ Carindale,Ā Carina,Ā BrisbaneĀ and surrounding areas.
Emotional issues such asĀ stress,Ā anxiety,Ā depression, addiction,Ā grief and loss, andĀ traumaĀ have underlying issues such as a loss of identity, fear, shame or guilt. There is often a fear that if underlying emotions are revealed, that you wonāt cope or things will get worse, and therefore it is better not to face them. Sometimes this leads to negative coping mechanisms such as avoidance (which builds up on the inside), addictions, anger, illness or a listless feeling of being stuck or powerless.
However, your unconscious mind and body already knows on many levels the very thing you fear ā there is no escaping it, itās whether you are controlled by the issues or you process the issues. There is courage and freedom in shining the light of examination and insight into the dark places to illuminate and liberate yourself. You can deal with what you can see so you donāt have to hide from what you donāt see.Ā CounsellingĀ can provide the contained therapeutic space to look deep within yourself, evaluate your options and empower your inner strength.
